Autism
Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that involves a number of characteristics in the child's behavior that appear before the third year of life.
Body
No child with autism is the same, but they all have characteristic symptoms such as:
- difficulties in achieving socialization and communication / they do not make eye contact to attract someone's attention, do not use words for the purpose of communication although they can pronounce them, there are difficulties in initiating and maintaining communication, decreased desire to interact with other people
- presence of stereotypical actions, restricted interests / for example, the child collects only sticks, turns wheels on cars
- presence of repetitive behavior / the child repeats the same action many times, opens and closes drawers, turns on the light
- presence of sensory difficulties - for example, the child may be hypersensitive to sound or light, may be sensitive to different smells and tastes
Additional difficulties are often present, such as:
- eating difficulties
- sleeping difficulties
- anxiety disorders
- epilepsy
- depression
- attention problem
- motor coordination problem
- self-destructive behaviors and self-harm
