Clap 1, 2, 3

Materials You Need: None

What You Can Do Together: Before starting the activity, make sure you prepare the space where your baby will play, remember that it must be comfortable and free from danger. Sit your baby in front of you. You can sit her/him in a chair, on a rug, or on the floor on a soft blanket.

Model how to clap your hands and then say the following rhyme:

How fun it is,

how fun it is,

how fun it is to play (clap).

Applause, applause,

1, 2, 3 (three applause).

Applause, applause,

1, 2, 3 (three applause)

Invite your child to imitate you and say the rhyme with you. You can alternate clapping with tapping on the floor with your feet to keep time with the song.

What Your Child is Learning: With this activity, you will help your baby imitate gestures to communicate and strengthen the muscles of her/his arms by clapping to the rhythm of a song. This activity will also help with developing hand-eye coordination.
