Learn to meditate

Materials You Need: None.

What You Can Do Together: Sit or lie in a comfortable, familiar space with your kids and ask them to close their eyes. You may also like to introduce an object that they can hold or have with them while meditating like a cushion, blanket or special soft toy. Encourage them to breathe naturally and just let their body relax.

Ask them to focus on listening to their breath and how their body feels. Encourage them to relax and remove all the tension in their body.

Ask them to think about something that makes them feel happy and relaxed. It could be a room full of puppies, the smell of their favourite dinner or the moment before they open a present. Encourage them to keep their mind in this happy place, trying not to get distracted. See if you can get them focused for one minute, then build it up, a minute at a time each day.

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years!

What Your Child is Learning: Meditation is a calming activity that teaches kids to let go of external worries and pressures, and just feel free to be themselves. It’s a great life skill to learn at any age and can help to combat stress, anxiety and increase mindfulness.
