Body

Your child has probably already started to turn from the back to the stomach and vice versa on both sides and to use his vocal abilities in various ways in communication with you (squeaks, gurgles, changes the height and volume voice)

Preparation for the visit

  • bring your child's favorite rattle and a list of questions for the doctor.

Contents of the preventive visit

  • Growth monitoring:  The usual measurements will be made: body weight, body length and head circumference.

  • Introductory interview and counseling: Nutrition and progression are still the focus of the conversation with the doctor. It is advisable for your baby to continue to be exclusively breastfed. You will evaluate nutrition and progress together with the doctor based on your child's progress and behavior.

  • You will agree when and how you will start with a non-dairy diet, with which foods and in what quantity.

  • Medical examination and assessment of development: The doctor will perform the usual examination of the child: He'll check how he's holding up when he's on his back; whether he has just started to turn from his back to his stomach, how he holds: head, torso, legs in different positions and when sitting, even though the child is not yet sitting independently.

  • He will observe: how he looks at his mother and famous people and how he looks at the doctor as an unknown person, how he plays with the toy and whether he puts it in his mouth.

  • During the check-up, you can continue talking about all the important areas of your child's development.

Vaccination

  • Your doctor/nurse will check which vaccines your child has received so far and how they have reacted to the vaccines they received during the last visit.

  • If all is well, he will receive two injections this time as well. He will receive the third dose of the combined vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio and Hemophilus influenza b in one upper leg, and the third dose of the vaccine against the disease that causes it in the other upper leg. bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae.

  • During the first days after vaccination, in some children, a mild fever, nervousness and crying may occur as a post-vaccination reaction, in which case, paracetamol syrup may be given in a dose prescribed by a pediatrician to alleviate the discomfort.

Final opinion

  • at the end, the doctor usually gives a few more oral recommendations and, if possible, some written material. He will also mention the time of the next visit.

At the routine health check- up, your child will receive the necessary support for successful progress. Don't miss this opportunity!
