Choreography

Materials You Need: Music player or radio.

What You Can Do Together: In an open outdoor space, play the music of your choice and encourage your child/children to listen and feel the beat and rhythm. Get them to wriggle and shake their arms and legs, stretch up to the sky and down to the ground, and tap their hands and feet. Encourage them to twirl, swirl kick and flick and enjoy moving to the music! Once they’ve found their own style, get them to put their favourite moves into a sequence…and perform their very own dance!

Create a playlist with songs that have different styles and have fun experimenting with dance ideas!

What Your Child is Learning: Encouraging kids to be choreographers outdoors gives them lots of space to try new moves, get to know their body and experience creative flow. Dance is a fun way to introduce exercise and improve coordination, balance and strength while boosting confidence, body positivity and wellbeing. And nature is an inspiring theatre, full of soft landings for bold leaps and spins!
