How to keep toys clean
Baby toys easily find their way from the floor to their mouths. By putting toys in the mouth, babies get acquainted with the objects around them, have fun, play, calm down, but they can also ingest microorganisms that cause various diseases.
Body
To keep your baby healthy, toys should be washed regularly as follows:
- Boil rattles and teethers at the end of each day in a pot with a little liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse well under running water and pat dry.
- Rinse ducks, fish, boats and other toys that babies play with while bathing, squeeze all the water out of them (if water has got inside), dry them to prevent fungi, mold and bacteria from developing on them.
- Wash plastic and wooden props (blocks, cars, trucks) with a mild baby detergent or dishwashing liquid, then rinse well and dry.
- Cloth and stuffed toys collect most dust and mites. Shake them out and wash them in the washing machine regularly, every 15 days. Wash them with a mild liquid laundry detergent. Always rinse twice.
- Pay special attention to the toys that the child plays with outside, in the yard. After playing, wash them under warm running water with liquid detergent. Make sure that no soil or sand remains on them. Rinse and dry.
When buying toys, keep the following in mind:
- their hygiene should be easy to maintain,
- they should be of good quality, from verified manufacturers (with a certificate),
- they should be safe and
- they should be age-appropriate.
Designate a plastic box or basket for storing children's toys. Teach your child from the earliest age to pick up his/her toys after playing and put them away. In this way, good habits are acquired through play and neatness is developed in the child.
