Knowing the Textures
Materials You Need: Various objects made of metal, wood, different materials and papers.
What You Can Do Together: Place different objects, fabrics and papers with different textures (soft, rough, rough, thick, thin, soft, hard, rigid) and sit your little one in a position where they can reach and grasp them.
When he/she has touched one, give her/him another and so on until he/she finishes feeling all the textures on each item. This activity allows your little one to use their senses and it is contributing to his/her brain development. For healthy growth and development, your child needs attention, sensitivity, and stimulation; especially the sense of touch because it stimulates neurons responsible for good motor and cognitive development.
What Your Child is Learning: Through this activity, your child learns to distinguish different objects and textures to improve their sense of touch.
