Mirror, Mirror

Materials You Need

  • Mirror
  • Accessories: hats, fabrics, bows, dolls, etc.

What You Can Do Together: Before starting, you should place the mirror against a wall and make sure it is well supported. You can lay your baby in front of the mirror on a soft blanket or sit her/him on your lap near the mirror.

Your baby will show a lot of interest and curiosity for their reflection in the mirror in front of her/him. After a while, he/she will be able to recognize her/his reflection, and it will fascinate them.

You can help her/him move their hands to make gestures or turn her/his head in front of the mirror. Show yourself in the mirror so he/she can see you as well.

Over time, you can add accessories to the game by putting a hat on their head, covering their head with a cloth or giving them a doll to interact with.

You can end the game by pointing to all the parts of their body in the mirror.

Enjoy this game with your baby several times a week to reinforce the recognition of her/his image.

What Your Child is Learning: This game will help your baby develop their self-esteem and self-awareness, as well as their knowledge of the parts of their body, ability to recognise her/his image and increase the understanding of the environment around her/him.
