Why you should be careful when cleaning your baby's ears
In newborn babies, there is always a small amount of foreign matter (amniotic fluid content) in the outer ear canal, which you do not need to remove. Earwax is yellowish in babies, it does not need to be cleaned, it has its functions (it moisturizes the skin of the ear and at the same time binds dirt and dust), it contains indispensable antibacterial substances. Always maintain ear hygiene after bathing, by wiping the outer ears gently with the tip of a cotton towel to clean them as far as you can reach. Avoid cotton buds (do not even use those with a stopper), as they can injure the baby or cause an infection. Wipe the area behind the outer ear with a cotton pad soaked in warm water every night because milk will trickle behind the ear during feeding.
If you notice that your baby often accumulates a lot of earwax, consult a pediatrician.
