Tunnel Travel!

Materials You Need: Cardboard box a little bigger than the child; a small blanket for babies

What You Can Do Together: Find a cardboard box that is a little bigger than your child—they should be able to easily fit inside of it.

Cut both ends of the box so that it becomes a tunnel. Place your little one on the ground at one end of the box (tunnel). Sit at the other end and call your little one, encourage them to go through the box. If he/she needs help, grab her/him and gently pull her/him from the other side. Repeat the game several times.

After completing the activity a few times, place a blanket at your end of the box so that the child cannot see you, then pick up the child and lead her/him to the other side.

What Your Child is Learning:  With this activity your child will strengthen the movement of her/his limbs and achieve coordination between the different parts of her/his body. He/she will also explore and discover new sensations on the floor, develop thinking skills, begin developing depth perception, and solve problems during this activity.
