You Can Reach It

Materials You Need: Soft and colorful toy.

What You Can Do Together: The first thing to do is make sure that the soft surface on which your baby will exercise does not have any objects that could distract him. Now lay her face down on her tummy and kneel in front of her feet.

Place a soft, colourful toy in front of her and draw your baby's attention to fix her gaze on the toy. You can move it a bit to get her attention.

When you see the object, your baby will try to reach it, move her head and stretch her arms. If your baby is very young, you will probably only see an attempt to move her head and arms.

Repeat this exercise in the morning and afternoon, and as the weeks go by, you can increase the difficulty. When you see that your baby can move her head and stretch her arms to reach the toy, gently hold her feet so that she pulls with greater force.

Remember that your baby is delicate, so you must take it with care to avoid hurting her. If you notice that your baby is tired, stop the game.

Strength and muscle tone exercises facilitate brain development which will help your baby to have greater control of her movements. By using a colourful object, you will be stimulating your baby's sense of sight.

What Your Child is Learning: With this easy exercise, you will be helping your baby to stimulate muscle tone, which will make it easier for her to sit, crawl and walk later. One of the most important aspects of developing gross motor skills will help your baby move around and quickly get to know the world.
