Note on first aid

When you are in a situation to provide first aid to an injured child, first think about how much you know about it, whether you are the right person or it is better to leave it to professionals, so as not to aggravate the injury. While seeking the help of professional services, stay level-headed and communicate with the injured child, assure him/her that help is coming and that you are there for him/her.
Body

Some of the recommended procedures in providing first aid require the application of special medical knowledge and skills (such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Heimlich maneuver, etc.).

The use of the information contained in the description of the recommended procedures cannot be a sufficient precondition for the successful application of some of them. Accordingly, it is recommended that all parents or caregivers be practically trained to act properly in situations where the child's health or life is endangered, in order to adopt the correct technique and adequate sequence of steps to be taken when checking vital signs, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and calling an ambulance, as well as other necessary first aid skills, knowledge and principles.

Since the child's age affects some first aid techniques to be applied, it is very important that parents and guardians are practically trained.

For more information on first aid training, you can contact the Serbian Red Cross or the emergency medical services in your area.
