Summer walk with a baby

Babies can be taken for walks from 15th day of life, provided that certain recommendations are followed. The baby should not be taken out of the house if the temperature is higher than 35 °C. Spending time outdoors improves the baby's general condition, mood, sleep, appetite, resistance to infections.

Warm weather is perfect for going for a walk with a baby only if you adequately prepare him/her for going out in the sun. It is recommended that during the summer months, the baby be taken out in the early morning hours, before 11 AM, or in the late afternoon, after 5 PM.

  • The clothes you put on the baby must be made of thick-woven cotton fabrics, suitable for protection against the sun, in as bright colors as possible.
  • A fabric hat with a brim must be put on the baby's head.
  • Mild sunlight contributes to the synthesis of vitamin D3, which is important for bones, teeth and strengthening immunity.
  • Sunscreens are not applied on the skin of babies up to 6 months of age. If the baby is older than 6 months, apply a high SPF sunscreen on the body parts not covered by clothes. Apply the sunscreen 20 minutes before going out for a walk.
  • Do not cover the stroller with a cloth to protect the child from the sun. You can use a stroller umbrella.
  • Water needs are increased at high temperatures, so it is necessary to breastfeed your baby more often or, if the baby is not naturally fed, to offer water more often.
  • Summer is the time when there are the most mosquitoes, so it is necessary to protect the baby before going out (with a stroller net, portable mosquito repellent devices or certain repellents).
